Oh the things you can find on the internet...

This year living with Rex has been eye opening in several ways. For example, I didn't realize how much of a clean freak that I really was, because I am not the clean one in the family, but then I started having mini panic attacks about dishes and insects. I guess my mother's almost obsessive cleanliness and organization has actually rubbed off on me.

Another thing that is different about living with Rex is that she comes from a totally different place politically from anyone else I have ever really spent any time talking politics with. Considering that my Dad is somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun, and Rex is somewhere to the left of Marx, I guess I am where I always am, somewhere in the middle.

I have never been so entertained by politics though, maybe its because I am getting older and these things actually influence my life, or maybe its because being in college puts these things in the forefront of your mind, either way, its more present now than it was before. I think I am going to give Rex credit for that.

Last night watching the Vice Presidential Debate, I don't think I would have watched the whole thing if Rex wasn't there commenting. Also, Mr. Allmeroth's lectures on fallacies and debates techniques kept filtering through my head. Man was Sarah Palin frustrating. So in honor of that... this made me laugh today.

English Papers

This picture is representation of I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH! from my sister.

It's 9:24 on a Tuesday night. I am sitting here in my room that is still just a little too warm from the heat of the day, correcting my sister's english paper, and thinking to myself... have I done this before?

You know how somethings change, and other things really don't? I have corrected dozens of papers for my sister, but the reason it strikes me tonight, is that we are both in college now. It's almost a ritual that I don't think about we've been doing it for so long. It doesn't strike me as strange that I would correct my sister's paper from over 1000 miles away, which is kind of strange.

My sister started a blog. Blogs are this fascinating way of communicating with other people without really communicating with other people. So I guess she's close, and yet, she's far. Surreal.

But back to the point (if I even had one) is that by correcting my sister's paper, however ridiculous that might be, I feel closer to her, and I stay connected, which makes me happy. So I just thought that I would share that.

Tomatoes, Bike Chains and Catching Up

I haven't posted in awhile... Sitting here thinking about it, I don't know exactly why that is. It's not as though I haven't had the 15 or 20 minutes it takes to sit down and write a blog post. It's not as though I haven't been intrigued, interesting, or even inspired by the things going on around me. I honestly think that it's because I am being lazy. I don't really like thinking that I am lazy person, so I decided to write a post.

Quick update on my life. I got back from New York, which was an awesome trip. I moved into my apartment in LA, went back home for my Dad's marathon of a wedding, and then came back and started classes. All in all, things are good. I am playing ultimate, directing theater projects, and attempting to learn something new everyday.

Today, for example, I learned how to clean a bicycle chain by having a conversation in spanish with the guy at the bike shop. I learned that I really need to work on my spanish verb conjugation, because although I can be understood, I sound like a kindergardener. I learned that despite hating them in my youth, and having just a liking for them later, I really do love tomatoes now. I guess taste buds really do change. Cool.

Tomorrow is practice for Hellions, and Sunday is practice for Inferno... and I am sure I am going to use that as an excuse to procrastinate on writing my papers. But, if I procrastinate enough, maybe I will post again.
